¥130,000,000

This beautifully positioned Holiday Rental/Vacation Property is conveniently located in the heart of Makkari Mura, Hokkaido, Japan, on the perimeter of Makkari Central. Making it easily accessible and genuine walking distance from all the delights Makkari Village has to offer.

The property consists of a generously sized lot of over 3,000sqm, easily allowing for enough space to build an additional house to expand the business.

The current house, built in 1998, is considerably larger than most in the area and on the market (both newly built and older existing houses), with a whopping 254.8sqm of internal space, split across 2 floors and comprising 5 full bedrooms and 3 separate bathrooms.

First opened as a going concern in 2023, Makkari SunHouse now welcomes vacationers looking for an unforgettable stay in Hokkaido. Unlike cramped and impersonal hotel rooms, Makkari SunHouse offers guests the chance to enjoy an inviting setup with plenty of space and privacy. Its roomy layout, fully equipped kitchen and cozy living area are perfect for families and groups. All encapsulated by the world-famous and stunning backdrop of Mount Yotei in its full and uninterrupted glory dominating the skyline with manicured fields in the foreground.

Ideally located halfway between Rusutsu and Niseko (15mins to Rusutsu and 20mins from Niseko), Makkari SunHouse’s location makes it ideal for powder-hounds and nature lovers alike. Away from the madness and crowds of both, yet only a short drive to either.

For those experienced and daring enough, craving back-country skiing. One of the favoured entry points for Yotei backcountry is only 500m away!

The Village of Makkari with its fabulous, and very reasonably priced restaurants and cafes such as IchiFuji and Base Cafe are mere minutes walk. As are convenience stores, local supermarket, bakery, post office, police station, garages and even a taxi company.

Not to mention the award winning, Michelin Star rated Maccarina only 5mins drive next to the stunning Makkari Onsen.

Makkari SunHouse Layout

Makkari SunHouse is a genuinely lovely and spacious house with larger than usual bedrooms for a Japanese house giving it a modern/Western feel of space.

Front and rear genkans (porch entrances) allow the warmth in and the cold out, with the ever so important and fabulous ski-gear drying area located inside the back door entrance.

In total, Makkari SunHouse comprises 5 full-size bedrooms, each with king size beds separable into singles and 3 separate bathrooms. One on the ground floor strategically positioned next to the laundry room, which is also then connected to the open-plan kitchen. With 2 more located upstairs, with one of these being en-suited to the master bedroom boasting incredible wrap around views. All allowing Makkari SunHouse to comfortably sleep groups of 10 (or more) people.

Once passed through the spacious front door genkan, with its host of storage compartments for all manner of footwear and seasonal jackets. And after slipping into some warm and comfortable Japanese indoor slippers. One makes their way through wide and high ceiling foray area with multiple cupboards for owner storage, and into the spacious open-plan living and dining rooms and comfy lounge area, which is equipped with Smart TV and Sound Bar for catching up on important current affairs or slipping into a relaxing audio-visual experience of other sorts.

Additionally, just off the living room, is the fantastic Washitsu with Kotatsu. A traditional Japanese tatami room with low table and blanket cover for you to sit (uncomfortably and awkwardly if like me) and recount the stories of the day while sipping matcha tea (or cold crisp lagers) trying not to drift into a relaxed sleep under heated blanket.
